Storefront and Glass Door Locks

Most storefronts on Grand Avenue, Escondido Boulevard and in the Valley Parkway strip centers are aluminum-and-glass doors with a narrow deadlatch or hookbolt in the stile, the Adams Rite style. They wear in a predictable way: the latch stops catching, the cylinder spins, the thumbturn gets loose. We rekey and replace those cylinders, swap the deadlatch or hookbolt, and fit a lock guard so a screwdriver in the gap does nothing. Back doors on those units are usually steel with a commercial lever; we handle those too. If the storefront glass is being replaced, call us before the glazier finishes so the new stile gets the right lock prep the first time.

Panic Bars and Exit Devices

If your door has a push bar, it's there because the fire code requires it. We repair and replace exit devices, fix bars that won't latch or rattle, add outside trim with a cylinder so staff can enter without propping the door, and install alarmed bars on doors that shouldn't be used as a shortcut. What we won't do is remove or defeat an exit device. Questions about whether a door needs one belong to the fire marshal's office, and we'll tell you to call them.

Office Suites and Medical Buildings

The office parks off Citracado Parkway and the medical buildings around the hospital campus on the west side run on a different mix: lever locks on suite doors, keyed cabinets and drug cabinets, storeroom function locks that stay locked from the hall, and a lot of doors that must close and latch on their own to satisfy the building's fire separation. We rekey suites at a tenant change, replace levers that have worn loose, fit storeroom or classroom function locks where a suite needs them, and key the cabinets so the office manager carries one key instead of a drawer full.

Restaurants: Kitchens, Coolers and Cash Rooms

A restaurant has more locks than a shop: the front door, the kitchen door to the alley, the walk-in cooler, the liquor storage, the office where the deposit sits. Along Grand Avenue and in the Valley Parkway centers we set those up on a small keyed-alike or master arrangement so the owner opens everything, the manager opens what they need, and the opener has a key to the front door only. Cooler doors get padlock hasps that stand up to steam and grease; the cash room gets a deadbolt with a restricted key that nobody can copy at a kiosk.

Door Closers That Slam or Won't Latch

A closer that slams scares customers and cracks glass; one that's too weak leaves the door open to the air conditioning and anyone walking by. Often it's an adjustment: two screws for sweep and latch speed, sometimes a spring-tension change. When the closer leaks oil or the arm is bent, it's replacement time. We match the size to the door weight and traffic so it lasts more than a season.

When an Employee Leaves

Keys walk. When a manager or a cook leaves on bad terms, or a key ring goes missing, the fix is a same-day rekey of the doors that key opened: front, back, office, cash room. We can do it after close so nobody at the counter notices. Back Doors, Gates and Roll-Ups

The rear of an Escondido business is where most break-ins happen: service doors on the alley side of Grand Avenue, gates at the auto repair and tire shops along Mission Avenue and the west-side industrial streets near Auto Park Way, roll-up doors on the warehouses around Enterprise Street and the Citracado Parkway area. We fit heavy-duty padlocks and hasps, keyed-alike sets so one key runs the gate and the shop, slide-bolt locks on roll-ups, and lock guards on alley doors.
